Homework Policy
Goals
1. Teachers use time outside of class to extend and reinforce student learning, helping students understand their learning progress and identify areas for improvement.
2. Assist teachers in assessing student learning progress as a basis for adjusting teaching progress.
3. The school hopes to work with parents to seek ways to help students improve and encourage them to develop their potential.
Principal
1. Have clear learning objectives and emphasize understanding and application rather than rote memorization.
2. Coordinate with the teaching progress to help students consolidate learning and develop concepts.
3. Provide differentiated instruction and cater to individual differences based on students' abilities and needs.
4. The school emphasizes high-quality coursework to stimulate students' thinking and self-directed learning, while avoiding heavy coursework that could dampen students' interest in learning.
Implementation format and arrangement:
1. The detailed implementation regulations regarding homework policies for each subject are established during subject committee meetings, including the types, quantity, format, and grading methods of homework.
2. Teachers design and arrange homework of different natures based on learning objectives and teaching needs according to the principles established during subject committee meetings.
3. Teachers design various types of assignments and layered worksheets with electronic learning and self-learning elements based on students' needs and subject objectives.
4. Subject teachers coordinate with each other to avoid excessive homework load on the same day.
5. Chinese and English dictation are scheduled in different weeks, so that students only need to review one subject per week.
6. When assigning homework, teachers clearly explain to students the methods and requirements for completing the homework, as well as the method for correcting mistakes.
7. To encourage students to complete homework actively, teachers use stickers and stamps to indicate progress or good performance on homework, and provide encouraging comments. Moreover, teachers provide inspiring suggestions based on students' difficulties, positively motivating students to complete the task.
8. If errors or areas for improvement are found in students' homework, teachers will use a red pen to provide guidance and lead students to reflect on and correct their mistakes, urging students to improve themselves.
9. Teachers follow up on corrections, and if most students make the same mistake, teachers will explain it again.
10. If a student's performance is not ideal, teachers will find the cause and guide the student to make improvements.
11. If a student frequently fails to submit homework, teachers will contact parents early to identify the problem and seek solutions.
12. Students' homework notebooks are checked and signed by parents or guardians every day, and homeroom teachers sign students' notebooks weekly.
13. Teachers have made appropriate assignments and suggest the following time for students to complete homework for each subject (Chinese, English, Mathematics, General Studies, STEM):
| |||
Grade | Primary 1-2 | Primary 3-4 | Primary 5-6 |
Homework Completing Time for Each Subject | 15-30minutes | 20-40minutes | 20-40minutes |
