Primary One Integration
Goals
1.Primary One curriculum integration is achieved through thematic teaching, breaking down subject boundaries. By integrating knowledge from different subject areas through various themes and real-life situations, students are able to learn from multiple perspectives.
2.Through various themes, diverse activities are designed, such as campus tours, interviews with school members, and self-love competitions. Through participating in these activities, students can develop their potential in various aspects and cultivate their communication skills, collaboration skills, research skills, creativity, critical thinking skills, and more.
There are a total of 8 themes in the curriculum integration for te academic year 2022-2023.
Date | Theme | Content |
Late August 2022 | Welcoming Life in Primary One | Students will get to know their classmates and teachers, become familiar with classroom routines, learn the school song and the "Kong Sheng Song," and become acquainted with the campus environment. This theme will be conducted in an inclusive manner to prepare students for life in Primary One. |
September 2022 | Diverse Life in Primary One | Using the content of "My School" and "Campus Life" in the General Studies subject, as well as focusing on Chinese (nouns, sentence structures such as "……is……") and Mathematics (ascending/descending order, odd/even numbers), students will strengthen their understanding of the school and adapt more quickly to their new campus life. This theme will help students better understand the school and adapt more quickly to their new campus life. |
October to November 2022 | Getting to Know Yourself | Using the content of "I Love Myself" in the General Studies subject, as well as integrating Chinese (verbs, sentence structures such as "……in……" and "……and……") and Mathematics (learning to use coins), students will gain a deeper understanding of themselves and learn self-care. November to December 2022 |
November to December 2022 | Happy Family | Using the content of "My Family" and "Happy Holidays" in the General Studies subject, as well as incorporating Chinese (sentence structures such as "……loves……" and "……together……") and Mathematics (basic addition, dates, and weekdays), students will write about the preferences of each family member using the structure "……loves……" and describe the activities they do with their family during holidays using the structure "……together……". Students will learn to read a calendar, record important family events, and draw a family tree to illustrate the relationships between family members. |
January to February 2023 | Wonderful World | Using the content of "Weather and Life" in the General Studies subject, students will learn about the changing weather throughout the four seasons, as well as focus on Chinese (adjectives, animal names, colors, sentence structures such as "Who……?") and Mathematics (two-digit addition, length and distance). This theme will enable students to appreciate the beauty of the world. |
March 2023 | Fun at the Park | Using the content of "Going to the Park" in the General Studies subject, as well as incorporating Chinese (structural particles "的、地、得" and sentence structures such as "……some……and……some……") and Mathematics (counting methods, plane figures, units and tens), students will write about the activities people do at the park using the structure "……some……and……some……". Through park visits, students will clearly understand the uses of various facilities in the park and learn how to use them correctly. |
April to May 2023 | Day and Night | Using the content of "Sun, Moon, Stars and Planets" in the General Studies subject, as well as focusing on Chinese (synonyms, antonyms, sentence structures such as "……both……and……"), and Mathematics (continuous addition, telling time), students will learn about the different activities during the day and night, and how the scenery changes with time. |
May to June 2023 | My Comfortable Home | Using the content of "Comfortable Home" in the General Studies subject, as well as incorporating Chinese (measure words, punctuation, sentence structures such as "……together with……") and Mathematics (two-digit subtraction, application questions, centimeters), students will list the equipment and uses in the home, write about the activities they do with their family at home using the structure "……together with……", and learn to measure the length of household items using a ruler, either in centimeters or meters, and calculate the difference in length between different items. |
