English Language
Goals
To develop pupils an ever-improving capability to use English, to think and communicate, to acquire, develop and apply knowledge.
To aid students’ understanding of how language is acquired, organized and used emphasising on the four-core language-learning fundamentals of writing, reading, listening and speaking skills.
To help pupils develop and apply an ever-improving understanding of how language is organized, used and learned.
To enhance the English Curriculum via Drama Education and learn life skills such as cooperating with others, speaking publicly, being creative and imaginative etc.
Strategies
To create a language rich and innovative environment by using situational learning strategies to engage and motivate students to use English.
To provide greater opportunities for pupils to use English for purposeful communication both inside and outside the classroom.
To enhance learning effectiveness through cross-curricular reading.
To implement a fun, engaging, task-based course that helps students not only develop the essential language skills, but also expands their knowledge and broaden their horizons by incorporating cultural elements, and STEM topics, helping them to become active global citizens and self-directed leaners.
Features of our school-based curriculum
We enrich the English language environment with a brand-new Life Experiential Learning Centre in school through conducting more interactive and fun activities such as cooking and orienteering, which giving our students the confidence to converse comfortably in English.
- We motivate students to read more and read deeper with a critical eye to explore topics and relate texts to their daily lives.
- Under the guidance of the Education Bureau, we have also implemented a primary literacy program (PLP-R/W) for P1 to P3, which focuses on reading and writing, real-life tasked based learning and the comprehensive integration of all language skills, to improve the literacy levels of the students.
4. The Net Scheme provides an authentic environment for students to learn English. Native English teachers work with local English teachers to develop the curricula, innovative learning and teaching methods, materials, and activities suited to the needs of local students.
- We promote cross-curricular reading and maximises students’ exposure to a wide range of text types.

OLE Session | English Drama | This activity enhances students' emotional, social and cognitive development. It also helps to develop imagination, self-confidence, concentration, cooperation and communication skills. |
OLE Session | Master Chef / English Craft Club / P.1-2 Reader’s Theater / P.3 & P.4English Voyage / P.5 Cambridge English | Using various interactive activities to facilitate language learning with students. These help students to apply the language in different contexts. |
