Assessment Policy
Our school's assessment is divided into two parts: "formative" and "summative" assessment, with the aim of examining students' learning progress and evaluating their performance in acquiring knowledge, mastering skills, and cultivating good attitudes and values. This allows teachers to provide effective and timely feedback based on the difficulties students encounter in their learning. "Formative assessment" is integrated into daily teaching, and assessment methods include teacher observation, classroom performance, group presentations, dictation, current events sharing, practical assessments, etc., focusing on learning processes and progress. Summative assessment is conducted once per semester. Parents can also use the school's communication app to stay informed of the assessment schedule.
In order to help Primary One students adapt to primary school life more easily, only formative assessment will be conducted in the first semester of Primary One, and there will be no summative assessment. The first summative assessment will be conducted in early June of the second semester once students have had time to adjust to their new environment.
In addition, in response to the Education Bureau's Secondary One placement mechanism, all students' assessment scores from the second semester of Primary Five and the first two assessments of Primary Six will be reported to the Education Bureau for use in ranking students for Secondary One placement. In addition to this, Primary Six students will also participate in the third-semester summative assessment in early June.
