Activities in 2022 - 2023 Academic Year
Date | Activity | Content |
Year-round | Library Collection Development | Our school library actively develops balanced and diversified collections and provides appropriate physical and electronic books for various subjects teaching and learning. During class time, teachers can arrange students to visit the school library for thematic reading. The school also borrows suitable books from the Hong Kong Public Library to increase the collection. |
Year-round | DEAR Time (Drop Everything and Read) | DEAR time is held in the morning, allowing form teachers and students to focus on reading books without any other class duties. Form teachers can also arrange students to share their reading experience and exchange ideas. |
Year-round | Online Reading | Our school provides students with online reading platforms such as "eJoy Reading School Program," "Ladder Reading Space," "MySmartReaders," and "Every Article Has a Firefly - Online Extensive Reading Program" (for primary 3 to primary 6), guiding them on how to use the websites and encouraging them to make good use of the online reading platforms. Our school participates in the "Jockey Club Digital Reading Scheme" and purchases more suitable electronic reading platforms and ebooks, encouraging students to continue reading electronically. The library director also adds "Electronic Reading" to the regular assessment and awards "Star Awards Program" (for making good use of the platform) points to students who performed well, encouraging them to use electronic reading platforms. |
Year-round | "Reading Buddy" Reading Program | The library continues to hold the "Reading Buddy" reading program this year. Students complete different reading tasks to earn points for their class and compete for the overall champion of the school. Students can also cultivate their reading interest and enhance their sense of belonging to their class. |
Year-round | Parent-Child Reading Incentive Program | The school library promotes the "Parent-Child Reading Incentive Program," encouraging parents and students to enjoy reading together and increasing interaction and communication between them. If students can read a designated number of books, complete their reading records and reports, the school will award them with certificates and gifts as encouragement. |
Year-round | Teachers' Book Recommendations | Every Monday, teachers produce videos to introduce good books and "positive" books for each subject, encouraging students to read and enhancing their self-learning abilities and cultivating correct values. The library director also places the books recommended by teachers in prominent locations in the floating book gallery for students to borrow at any time. |
Year-round | Reading Ambassadors | The school library uses the campus TV station as a platform to promote the reading atmosphere. Teachers train "Reading Ambassadors" to act as reporters, produce videos, introduce famous books and authors, and share their reading experience with classmates. |
Year-round | Thematic Reading | Thematic reading is promoted during each subject's week, encouraging students to read related books and holding different forms of reading activities, encouraging students to self-learn. |
April 24, 2023 | Tai Shing "Joy" Reading Day | In response to "World Reading Day," the library holds the "Tai Shing 'Joy' Reading Day" on April 24, 2023, and conducts diverse and interesting reading activities to allow students to enjoy the pleasure of reading. |
